About Joseph James

Singer/Songwriter and Musician

James is a singer/songwriter and musician who has been playing guitar since the age of 9.  As an independent artist his songs and music videos have received some of the most airplay on radio, television and the Internet.   He has participated in a number of Fan Fairs in Nashville with his own booth and always enjoys meeting the fans.

While in Nashville  James wrote a new song titled San Antonio Girl along with the fine songwriter Matt Lindsey.   Look for James sometime in 2013 to perform a live concert that will be filmed for future broadcast featuring San Antonio Girl along with other new songs!

James' last single he released was Christmas in My Hometown during the 2005 and 2008 holiday season.  It tells the story of a serviceman overseas thinking about his family back home.  His latest CD is the self-titled CD of 11 songs recorded in Nashville and features some of the best musicians that town has to offer. You will hear great fiddle (Aubrey Haynie) (up for CMA musicians of the year), harmonica (Terry McMillan), bass (Mike Chapman), Steel (Mike Johnson), piano (Ronnie Godfrey) just to name a few of the great players. The CD was produced by James Williams (formally of The Younger Brothers) and Joseph James. The CD features two music videos, "The Honky Tonk Cafe" and "One Track Mind". The "One Track Mind" music video was picked up by 80% of the available video outlets. His latest single release "I Can't Move On" was on picked up by 700 Country Radio Stations in the United States.

James' first recording of country music in Nashville resulted in the release of the Joseph James CD Sampler the end of 1999. "One Track Mind" along with "Nice To Be With You", off the Sampler, were the first worldwide releases for the country artist. Over 1,000 stations worldwide programmed both these songs with 600 in the United States. The dance mix of "One Track Mind" was also on the major artist chart for the dance clubs in the United States. We still hear about the song being played at country clubs across the country.

The second release, "Nice To Be With You", has a special meaning for Joseph James. It was a hit for Jim Gold and Gallery in the 70's. Jim was a student at a small music store, Novak's Music, where Gretsch Guitars and Chet Atkins were the heroes. Years later, Joe took guitar lessons from that same studio and said that if he ever had the chance to record that song he would.

The first CD release by Joseph James titled "Back In Love" featured the song "Car Country", a song that hit number #1 on two of the Independent charts. It's the story about a laid-off auto worker taking a job in Tennessee to build cars and to build a new life. In 1997, he performed a showcase at the Opryland Hotel during the Country Radio Seminar where he performed many of his songs off the album. The CD was sent to the top 381 markets. Roughly 150 radio stations put "Car Country" in rotation. Joseph James did a number of interviews across the country. Over -55 markets were airing the "Car Country" music video and that did not include national or syndicated shows such as "America's Country Connection" which was in over 70 markets, and Wolfram video which services the armed forces, hotels, restaurants and clubs.

James has been singing since age 5 and playing guitar since age 9 growing up in the Midwest. He has been recording his music since 1988. His favorite country singers include Marty Robbins and Johnny Cash. He has received a Certificate of Achievement Award for his song "Together" from Billboard's annual song contest. James is also a member of the Country Music Association (CMA), ASCAP and NSAI.
